Big Society Bank

At the end of last year I wrote to the Chancellor urging him to consider a tax on bank bonuses, in order to ease the £1bn cuts our sector faces in the year ahead.

Sir Stephen Bubb is Chief Executive of the Association of Chief Executive Organisations. In 2007 he became Secretary General of Euclid Network, the European body for Third Sector leaders. He is the Chair of Social Investment Business, the largest social investor in the UK and a Board member of the Big Society Capital Trust. He has been in major national roles in TGWU, NUT and AMA (Association of Metropolitan Authorities) and was Founding Personnel Director of the National Lottery Charities Board. He was a Councillor in Lambeth and an active member of the health authorities for Guys and St Thomas' over two decades. Born and brought up in Kent, he read PPE at Christ Church, Oxford. He lives in Lambeth and in Charlbury in the Costwolds. He has been a Youth Court Magistrate, Open University Tutor, non- Executive Director in the private sector, Chair of an Orchestra and Founder of a Charity. In 2011 he was appointed by David Cameron to Chair the choice and competition workstream of the Government's listening exercise on the NHS reforms, the NHS Future Forum.
